Toughened Glass Splashbacks: New Range Just In

March 08, 2010 By: admin Category: Mykitchenstore News, Product Information

Toughened Glass Splashback

Toughened Glass Splashback

Glass splashbacks and upstands are some of the most popular decor products in the kitchen right now - they offer a beautiful and practical solution to protecting the walls behind your cooker hob and work surfaces - and are durable and easy maintenance.

We now offer both untoughened glass and toughened glass versions - the difference being that a toughend glass version (which is slightly cheaper) cannot be cut to size where as glass that is left untoughend can be cut to suit your needs.

Both are formed in 6mm extra strong glass that meets EN and BS standards for purpose and both come in our stunning range of colours from bright pinks, read and limes to classic blacks and greys with subtle blues and beiges in between. They come on a range of standard sizes and we can usually deliver within 2 to 3 days

You can alos purchase matching panels to go round the work surfaces to create a truly beautiful display. The panels are very easy to fit - remove the backing to reveal self adhesive panels that just require that you push them firmly against a flat wall to adhere . The one golden rule to remember when fitting, is to leave a 2mm gap all the way round (including above the work surface)and the fill with hygenic silicone sealant all the way round.

LED Strip Lights and Bar Lights: Kitchen Highlights!

November 26, 2009 By: admin Category: Product Information

LED Strip Lighting

LED Strip Lighting

Lighting is an essential part of your decor in the kitchen - and not just from the practical need to ensure you can see what you’re doing when you’re cooking!

Adding variety to your design is a must - and the kitchen lighting section of My Kitchen Store offers a huge range of choice with downlights, cabinet lights, plinth lights - and much more. But for this article, I am going to highlight (get it, highlight;) the use of LED lights, both in flexible strips and bar strips.

These are a great way to add interest to the interior of your cabinets, along the edges cupboards or plinths and anywhere that you would like a light feature to add interest.

We have flexible LED strips measuring 2 metres, each having 72 LED bulbs. These look great as edging inside cabinets or perhaps tucked onto the top of a splashback to create splashes of light. And here’s a DIY TIP for you, if you would like the lights to shine down to feature items on or below a cabinet shelf, but want to mask them from direct view you can use a shelf profile strip to house them in.

We also have a multi colour LED strip, 300mm in length and with 12 RGB diodes in 7 preset colours. These are easy to fit with a self-adhesive backing and are lots of fun.

Fixed strips are also available in varying lengths and widths and you will find all the connectors, distributors and plugs you need to set up your lighting - though we would always recommend that you consult a qualified electrician for fitting.

Hope that sheds a little light on LED strips! Visit www.mykitchenstore.co.uk for more information.

And The Winner Is…

First of all I would like to thank you all for entering our competition. When Elaine passed the judging over I didn’t really mind – but then I hadn’t realised how tough it would be to make a decision!

We had some great entries that variously made me smile, laugh – and think! Oh and I had to click a lot to test the links.

The variety and types of entry made it difficult to make a choice – for example, if humour was my criteria (and I love funnies!), Charles at Clear As Crystal web design would be a ‘clear’ winner; for well written, good copy I would say Kip FX Design and for sequenced blogs I would pick Nick at Pimlico Flats

But in the end I went back to the brief that Sarah Arrow wrote about the competition and the need to use good clear anchor text - and this left me with two stand-out articles from Anita at www.sendaflowercard.com and Angela at StudyingOnline on BTTradespace.

Here are their entries:

English study expert Angela, at StudyingOnline on BTTradespace

And

Flower Card and Craft expert Anita Hunt on her Send A Flower Card Blog

Both had multiple links from their blogs using anchor text that was descriptive of our products and product categories. Finding it difficult to make the decision between them, the final thing I did was to look at our backlinks on google to see what results might be available – and found that google had already picked up backlinks from Anita’s well-crafted blog. And that for me was the decider.

So congratulations to Anita, who will now be able to cook her Christmas dinner write our stupendous Flip Down TV and DVD on in her kitchen (or better still, make someone else cook it while she watches the telly!)

And finally, if you want to congratulate me on my skill as a judge and say how great the competition was, let me know – and any complaints, your reference point is Elaine for briefing me badly ;)

Best wishes

Kitchen Storage For A Tight Situation

November 21, 2009 By: admin Category: Mykitchenstore News, Product Information

Pull Out Units for 150mm Cabinets

Pull Out Units for 150mm Cabinets

Maximising your kitchen storage space is something of a skill - and eeking the absolute most from a small space is a real trick. So we’re delighted to announce a series of new products that offer you pull out storage in a space as narrow as 150mm.

These three new narrow pull out storage units give you a storage mechanism - either racks for groceries, like spices, jars etc., hanging rails for kitchen tea towels, or racks for larger items like flat baking sheets.

The units come complete with runners and fixings (but not the door) so that you can fit them into a narrow space up to 150mm wide.

You often find with a fitted kitchen that you’ll end up with a narrow space perhaps next to an appliance like a cooker which gets filled with a fixed blank panel, effectively wasting the space behind it. With these handy units, you can use that space to maximum advantage.

Innovative storage options from www.mykitchenstore.co.uk, include a wide range of units, like magic corners, carousels and kitchen drawer inserts - products designed to help you make the most of the room at the heart of your home.

Listen to Percy - and Stay Safe Online

November 20, 2009 By: admin Category: On A Personal Note...

Stay safe in cyberspace with Percy the PigeonIt seems appropriate since today is Children in Need to help a little friend of mine who wants to spread a message about how to stay safe in cyberspace.

Percy the Pigeon is the magical friend of Matty - and he helps Matty deal with his problems being bullied. Together they go on a great adventure, which you can read in the book ‘Matty and the Secret Pigeon Racket’.

But Percy is aware also of the dangers that exist on line - including online bullying - and wants to encourage everyone to take steps to make sure they themselves are safe online - and to look after others interests too.

And if you are reading this, Percy wants you to know that to stay safe, please tell someone you are being bullied. Don’t be frightened, find somone you trust and let them know it’s happening. There are lots of ways that you can find support - and there are plenty of people who understand what you are going through and will be able to help.

To find out more about Percy, visit www.areyoubeingbullied.com.  And stay safe.

Pan Stand or Hot Rods, It’s a Burning Question!

November 19, 2009 By: admin Category: DIY Guides, Product Information

Hot Rod Pan Stands

Hot Rod Pan Stands

Wooden worktops are a wonderful luxury in the kitchen, but you do need to make sure you look after them properly.

Aside from the wood treatments that will help to keep it in great condition, you also need to protect it from heat - and we have two great alternatives for you to do this.

First, there are the wonderfully attractive and nifty ‘hot rod’ pan stands.

They are solid stainless steel rods that fit into pre-drilled grooves in your worktop when you need to place a pan on the work surface - and you can pop them away in the drawer when they are not in use. They come in various sizes, from 100mm to 510mm in length. An elegant and smart solution.

We also stock the router jig you would need if you wanted to DIY the worktop grooves.

Pan Stand

Then there’s the altogether simpler plain pan stand - a polished chrome grid with

rubber feet to protect the surface from scratches. It takes away the heat and also can be put way in the drawer after use.

Either way, a method of protecting your wooden work surfaces from pans and utensils is a must, so be sure to hot foot it to www.mykitchenstore.co.uk for your solution!
